Investing in massage and bodywork is an investment in your health. You only have one body and one life, let me be a part of helping you take care of it and moving with ease.
As part of the initial consultation, I start by assessing the client's needs, current condition and goals. I will also discuss past injuries and surgeries. This is done so that I can better understand what condition your body is in and help me be more accurate with the treatment plan.
Therapeutic Bodywork
Techniques used are sports massage therapy, myofascial release, trigger point release, deep tissue massage therapy, cupping and stretch therapy. During, and after your session, I will follow up with a quick re-assessment to make sure I addressed your issue. We will do a re-evaluation of your current condition and how to proceed for future sessions.
Education
Education on self-care techniques is the final step. Stretching and strengthening is what retrains the nervous system and allows the new ranges of motion and muscle position to hold in their corrected new pattern. In addition, when done properly, this will also balance out muscle groups and reduce or eliminate pain and tension through-out the entire body.
The follow-up sessions are continued from the treatment plan that was developed in your initial consultation or previous therapy sessions. Techniques used are Structural Alignment Massage therapy, advanced therapeutic massage, sports massage therapy, myofascial release, trigger point release, deep tissue, cupping and stretch therapy.
Advanced Therapeutic Massage Therapy is used to help treat the following conditions, but not limited to:
Sports and Orthodepic Massage have similar techniques but differ in the objective of the session. This will include and begin with a complimentary consultation to see where you are in that moment to be able to create a custom treatment plan for your individual needs.
Sports massage will depend on whether the athlete is in the pre-performance, maintenance or rehabilitative stage and will be customized to that individual and their sport. Sports massage is typically used before, during and after events as well as maintenance during the off season.
This massage is highly recommended for athletes of all types, from weekend golfers to professionals. The purpose of receiving a sports massage is to reduce muscle tension and fatigue, increase flexibility, promote better biomechanics, and reduce injuries.
Sports massage utilizes multiple techniques including Myofascial Release, Deep Tissue, Structural Integration Methods, Joint Capsule Work and Fascial Stretching to help increase joint range of motion and restore muscles to their proper resting length.
When integrated into a weekly training regimen, athletes may avoid DOMS (the pain and soreness post workout that can last 24 to 48 hours), refresh their muscles and fascia, and have increased focus before, during or after events.
At the beginning of your Assisted Stretch session, we will conduct a short initial consultation to address any questions, concerns and goals you have as well as, any other added benefits you would like to see personally.
Once we address those goals and concerns, we will create a customized plan designed specifically for you. The therapist will discuss with you throughout your session any imbalances they find and what they, and you, can do to work on getting that imbalance, balanced.
During your session the therapist will guide you verbally and assist you when to contract and release the muscles being stretched in order to go into a deeper stretch.
Benefits of Assisted Stretching:
KT Tape is an elastic sports and fitness tape designed for muscle, ligament and tendon pain relief. It can help relieve pain associated with strains and/or pains. It can help provide stable support without restricting your range of motion like other athletic tape or even braces.
How does it work? When an area of the body is injured through impact or over-use, the lymphatic fluid builds up causing inflammation and swelling. This accumulation of lymphatic fluids may cause increased pressure on muscles and tissue which can cause significant discomfort or pain.
It is believed that when applied correctly, KT Tape lifts the skin, decompressing the layers of fascia, allowing for greater movement of lymphatic fluid which transports white blood cells throughout the body and removes waste products, cellular debris, and bacteria.
During your session, I will evaluate the muscles or ligaments in question and determine whether KT Tape is right for you.
